Californian Lilac

It was a shame to have to cut back the Californian Lilac yet again, before the berries could turn black, it was so beautiful this year! I had become used to its architectural lines in stark contrast to the bamboo and Leyland cypress on the background, that’s part of the reason I cut it back twice each year. I would however have preferred to be able to let the berries ripen and let the trees finish their lifecycle. That’s the drawback of inner city gardening for you…
