Dicksonia Antarctica

Dicksonia antarctica is a majestic species of tree fern originally from New Zealand now readily available here in Britain and very popular as focal plants in the landscape.

Throughout the year and especially during dry spells in the summer the crown and soil around the base of the stem have to be kept damp and a daily  splash of water  is best achieved by making use of a automatic watering system from the tap. Make sure the water reach the crown or place a dripper directly in the crown and set the timer for at least 6 minutes early morning (summer time).

In damp conditions Dicksonias can tolerate full sun, but it prefers a sheltered position in semi-shade.
